children's church

St. Barnabas loves kids, and we prioritize them in the life of our congregation. Kids are always welcome in church, and we love it when they lift their voices (or cries!) in worship. We also have multiple regular offerings for children that aim to help parents raise their kids in faith.

Children's Church

Our popular, one-room-schoolhouse Sunday School program for kids meets at least two Sundays per month during the 10AM service. Kids learn the stories of the Bible and exercise their faith through crafts and other activities.

Movie Night

We regularly host movie nights for kids in the Parish Hall, featuring appearances by Val and friends. We take care of dinner, and parents are invited to go out while we're watching the movie. Friday night childcare's on the church!

Children's Newsletter

Once a month, we send a special newsletter which includes a word from Father Justin about how families can live spiritually into the next month, a column on parenting by parishioner and teacher Susan Fisher, and updates from Dr. Jewelle and the ministry team.

Music for Kids

Children's Church regularly features music lessons by Megan Friar, alto in our choir, and kids share their songs seasonally in church accompanied by our director of music, Marnus. More opportunities for music for kids will be coming soon!

SUNDAY MORNING HOW-TO

Kids and families are always welcome at St. Barnabas. On Sundays when Children's Church takes place, parents drop their kids off at 10AM at the Children's Chapel across from the Parish Hall (just ask our ushers for directions). Parents are then invited to join the congregation for worship in the church while their kids have some fun and faith of their own. Kids rejoin their families in the church at the announcements, before Communion.

Childcare for all ages is available every Sunday in our nursery, and kids are always welcome in church. Ask the ushers for Val's Activity Sheet to have some extra fun (and occupy busy minds and hands) during the service.
