Christians believe that the Holy Spirit has been poured into our hearts and, as a result, knows us better than we know ourselves. According to Romans 8, the fact we can keep no secrets from the Spirit of God ought not to frighten or shame us but to strengthen us. The Spirit that dwells within us is Jesus' own, making us God's children likewise. God knows all that we try to keep secret—those things that are especially sinful, special, or sensitive. And the sake of His Son, He forgives, glorifies, and strengthens all those things, establishing and cherishing us as His heirs.
