Perfect Mercy

In this sermon on the "Sermon on the Plain" according to Luke's gospel, Father Justin explains how Jesus sets before us a moral standard so high that it's impossible for any human being perfectly to embody it in real life. Jesus tells us to love our enemies, bless those who curse us, give to those who steal from us, forego not only retaliation but self-defense, and more. It might be impossible for us, but it's not impossible for God. That's Jesus' point. The God of Jesus Christ loves His enemies and blesses those who curse Him. This is good news for all of us, our enemies as well as ourselves.
